Training & Conformation
Traveler has completed all three of our pre-rider training levels, Saddle 1: Elementary Saddle and is currently training in Saddle 2: Experienced Saddle.
As a weanling he was introduced to halter training, grooming, hoof care, oral worming, and learned to enjoy human contact.
From his yearling year to three years old he was kept in a herd setting most of the time. During his third year he was trained all of the basics for pre-rider training, this included practicing catching, leading and tying skills, de-worming, hoof trimming, spending time in a box stall and learning to relax out of the heard setting. Before saddle training Traveler was trained to ground drive, lung in a round pen, accept a saddle on his back and trailer load.
During Saddle 1: Elementary Saddle training Traveler learned the basics of carrying a rider on his back. This included standing during mounting and dismounting; following voice and leg ques to go forward, back and stop; turning both ways; traveling and transitioning through the walk trot and lope.
Saddle 2: Advanced Saddle Traveler has been progressing well with gaining experience, learning to flex and developing his form and confidence. He is learning to move off of leg pressure for sideways movements and gaining smoothness through transitions. During this period he has been training in both english and western tack.

What you need to know
Dun Playin Roan (Traveler) is a great young gelding looking for rider to share life’s adventures. For the past three years he has been the star young gelding in our training program. He has an easy go with the flow attitude, he always seems to enjoy his training and knows how to talk you into giving him a little extra attention. At nearly 16 h.h. he has good presence and a long easy stride. Travelers conformation style follows the running quarter horse side of his pedigree. His longer back and neck give him a sleek graceful look and movement, he has a refined head and neck with large brown eyes that give him a very gentle appearance.
He is always willing and ready to go but knows how to enjoy the slow times. He is confident and rarely worries about things, he forgives easily and likes to be a team player looking to his handler for guidance in new settings.
