What you need to know
Treasure found…
Gypsy is the kind of horse you might over look in the herd. She does not push her way to the front but patiently waits for her turn. It is when you work with her that you begin to appreciate her gentle and affectionate way. She loves to just spend time with you.
Lots of heart…
Our Saddle 2 program is an intensive period in a horse’s life. Not all horses that enter make the cut. The work is hard and the program is design to bring the cream to the surface. Gypsy does not like to be rushed into new things, she wants to learn her job and do it well. The trainers just love how even after a demanding, exhausting workout; Gypsy lets you know she still likes you. No matter what the task, she always finishes with her soft rubbing against you that says she still loves you and wants to be friends.
Endearing start to finish…
While she is quite happy to take you on a relaxing ride through the mountains, she willingly gives you more when you want it. She is adaptive, quick to learn and likes you to show her what you want. She handles multiple tasks well and does not mind a change in plans but wants to take the time to understand what is expected.
Thinking alike…
She is not looking for a free ride. She has the work ethic to understand she has a job to do and gladly does it to earn her keep. Every day she is there waiting her turn. She is never reluctant or hiding in the corner when it is her turn to go to work. She shows up every day; ready to go. She is not looking for the spot light; she just wants to do good for you. Her goal and yours are the same; just to enjoy a fun ride and appreciate how great it is just to be together.
Personality Assessment
Gypsy Go Lightly's personality assessment is: The Wall Flower1
The Wall Flower: Wrap these sweet, kind, gentle horses up and keep them safe. They are not very brave and tend to internalize their worries. They want to please and will try very hard for you, but they can be pushed too fast very easily. They make few demands of you and are quite content to perform the same tasks repeatedly as long as you are pleased with them and the jobs are not to strenuous. The Wall Flower can be quiet enough for the beginner once they understand what is expected of them.
Do:
- Be their leader
- Keep them safe
- Build trust slowly
- Keep tasks simple and repetitive
- Cuddle them lots
- Spend the time it takes
- Appreciate them
Don't:
- Expect them to go solo
- Scare them
- Over face them
- Be overly demanding
- Ignore them
- Hurry them
- Take them for granted
